A Ride on a Magic Carpet

Yes fans, there IS more to life than Seaman Knight Checking In and Taylor Hicks winning American Idol! While I am being truly overworked with household trivia in Randy's absence, I do continue my fiberish pursuits as much as I can. I finished this reversible bracelet last night. It's a Melanie Doerman design, "Magic Carpet Ride." This version is purple and lavendar on one side, royal blue and light blue on the other. Those silver-lined matte royal blue beads really glow.

I've been taking every Melanie Doerman class I can for several months now because Melanie has the mind of an engineer. She's a master at bead work structure. That's what I want to be learning now. I'm also perfecting my right-angle weave skills, not an easy task but definitely worthwhile since right-angle weave supports so much structural design. At a recent class, I snapped a photo of Melanie (on the left) with my beady friend Laurel. Honestly, we were having too much fun that day.
